Highlights of his career

 

1970’s

Has a 35-year history of formal dog training, but has had dogs from boyhood (his first dog was a collie) and began training personal protection dogs.

 

1970's-1980’s

Trained Dobermans in personal protection and showed rottweilers in AKC.

 

1987

Opened his own dog-training school for obedience and competitive obedience in Riverdale, MD. He began schutzhund training in 1989 but a life-endangering injury slowed his training for nearly 5 years.

 

1990’s  

Numerous 1st and 2nd placements in AKC trials with both rottweilers and German shepherds.

 

Chico trained his rottweiler Maximillion von Nero UD from Novice to Utility in 10 shows, Novice title in 3 shows, CDX title in 3 shows, Utility in 4 shows! Chico titled 4 rottweilers and 1 GSD in American Kennel Club obedience, including 2 dogs to UD.

 

Roxanne von Stan UD

 

Chico received the distinguished AKC Dog World Award with his female rottweiler Roxanne von Stan Stanford with 3 consecutive scores 196, 196 ½, 196 CD under three different judges. out of a maximum of 200

 

Chico competed with 2 rottweilers, two of the youngest dogs at the Gaines Eastern Regional All Breed Championships where they averaged 196 Roxanne and Maximillion 195 points out of a possible 200. His dogs placed 12th and 15th out of the top 70 dogs. His rottweiler Roxanne Von Stan Stanford achieved 199 pts. out of 200 pts. in open B. 

Won the Rottweiler Specialty in Open CDX Roxanne von Stan in the early 1990’s in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

1993 He also had the top utility rottweiler in the United States

 

Chico also trained 2 of his students and their dogs to accomplish the Elusive AKC Dog World Award. One of his students had one of the top novice obedience rottweilers in the country. Chico trained the handler and one of the first Cane Corso females to a BH in this country.

 

Chico has titled 4 dogs from puppies to schutzhund III (HOT*) Handler Owner Train).

His handler-own trained dogs are:

Elsy vom Grunfield, Trouble von der Gute Machden, Zamb vom Bautershof, and Stroh’s Egon.

 

His youngest titled dog in Schutzhund (ELSY*) achieved her schutzhund I in the early 1990s’s with an SG 96-90-94 score at the age of 21 months!

1998 1st Won the World Schutzhund League Championship in New Hampshire: First schutzhund III cash award event in America.

1998 4th place Northeast Regionals

2001 23rd place USA National Championship had one of the most energetic obedience performances  95-92-87-(274)

9 times schutzhund III and achieved 100 points in tracking at the NE Regionals and Nationals in Reno, Nevada

1999 3rd place Northeast Regionals (100-94-86/ 280) and 25th. ..45 days later, 1999  25th place USA National Regionals Championship (97-90-84/ ) 271           

 

Zamb Bautershof

Chico titled his dog Zamb BH..FH100..Sch1 Sch2 ..FH2 AD..KKL2 Sch3 in 6 months. SCH1 100-90-90(280) SGH2 100- 91-93-(284) SCH3 97-93-86 (276) SCH3 99-96-95 (290V) HOT*  And 4x schutzhund III by the age of 3 yrs & 10 months Zamb was one of the  youngest dog at the

2003 39th USA National Championship ..39th

2004 13th AWDF

 

Iwo Vom Basintenberg

FH..95 pt.

Qualifying score 98-83-97)...278. High in Trial

2002 45th place out of 141 USA National Championship  (95-87-87/269)

      

Iwan von Zweibruggen

"Great dogs are not often on the podium: sometimes, they are in someone’s backyard."

Chico purchased at Iwan at the age of 5. At that time, Iwan had only been shown 3 times SCH I, II, III (scores 70-88-96/254). Chico and Iwan went on to place 9th at the 2004 Nationals ( FH (93), and other numerous V-rated scores (286, 291) and placed 5th at the WDA World Qualifier, WUSV team member 2005. Chico and Iwan were members of the World Championship team in 2005 and exhibited the most exciting protection routine. Iwan was 14x SCH III and never failed a trial with Chico handling.

2004 - 9th at USA National Championship with scores of (98-93-93) 284

2005 - 6th   WUSV USA team member                       

2006    Chico has qualified and showed 2 dogs at the 2006  USA Nationals Championship

placing 22st and 25th respectively. Both dogs V’d in tracking with one dog owner-handler trained.

Egon was prepared for his FHII before his untimely death in August 2007. His spirit lives on in his last litter with Gangster and Gina.

 

Chico has competed nationally with 7 different dogs. Every (HOT) schutzhund dog he trained V’ed in obedience and tracking. He achieved 100 pts. in schutzhund III tracking in numerous events (including Nationals and Regionals) with 4 different dogs: Trouble, Iwan, Elsy, Zamb.

He achieved scores of 290 and above in schutzhund with 3 different dogs. 

  

AD titles: Elsy, Iwan, Egon, Trouble, Zamb 

Breed survey: 3 dogs (Iwo von Basintenberg, Zamb Bautershof, Trouble von der Gutemachden).

 

Chico has bred and trained 7 different dogs for police work with 4 dogs still active on the street.

 

He has titled 6 dogs to FH I with scores from Elsy Nina Grade Vom Grunfel * 96-Trouble Von Der Gutemachden*94 -Zamb Bautershof*100.Iwo Vom Basintenberg95-Iwan Zweibruggen93,--- Stroh's Egon*97-

 

Chico has trained 3 dogs from puppies to FH2 Elsy Nina GrandeVom Grunfel 95,Trouble Von Der Gutemachden 94,Zamb Bautershof 97.FH 2,  He has competed 7 at the Nationals and has qualified 9x  showed 7different dogs at 2006 US National Championships. Casch Vom Salztalblick 96 84 91(271) Stroh's Egon.Chico is a certified USA helper and meets the requirements to become a judge in both AKC and schutzhund events. He is currently on his 5th owner/handler dog (Hustler Dreadlocks Hater Proof) and is looking forward to a 7th FH!
